Isis Oasis Sanctuary was founded in 1978, as Isis Oasis
Retreat Center
, by Loreon Vigne. Before that time Loreon was an artist
and craftsperson in San Francisco. She created a line of giftware and
jewelry called Noir Enamelcraft and maintained her own gallery in downtown
San Francisco. As her work became popular she needed a workshop.
Answering a newspaper ad, she was delighted to discover that the building
was on Isis Street. Knowing of this street, she had wished to live there
because it was named for the Goddess. So she was quite amazed to have
this synchronicity occur.

Her business flourished after she got that place. She brought two ocelots
there which began to breed. This was rare in the world of ocelots. Papyrus
grew in the garden without having been planted and other magical things
happened on a daily basis.

Soon she outgrew the Isis Street property but wished for a way
to have more space without leaving this address. She managed
to acquire a factory building that adjoined the Isis Street property
on the backyard. Soon there where fourty employees making the
artistic and colorful products she designed. The ocelots
proliferated and soon she had six of them. She began to covet
the property whose garden backed up onto Isis Street.
Later, this purchase was made so there could be plenty of room for the cats and for her business as well. Now she had three buildings that all connected to each other, allowing her room for everything. Things went well until San Francisco made laws forbidding ownership of exotic animals. Loreon decided to leave the city and determined to find an appropriate place in the country.

She looked at the newspaper again and immediately found an ad that sounded interesting. When visiting this property in Geyserville, she discovered it's owner had a restaurant right across from Isis Street. Loreon felt that this unusual set of circumstances implied that the property was destined to be hers. A price was agreed upon and she made the purchase. Although initially planning to move her enamelware business to the new property, she decided instead to sell it. While leaving Isis Street, she continued her connection with the Goddess by naming the new property Isis Oasis.

Her ocelots have continued to breed and the latest is a seventh generation domestically born cat. Both serval cats and bobcats were added to the habitats she had built behind the 100 year old house on the property. There are also many colorful birds and interesting farm animals, including a living unicorn. Many visitors enjoy the animal tours that are conducted at Isis Oasis every day.

Loreon recently bequethed Isis Oasis Retreat Center to the Temple of Isis, and we are now renamed Isis Oasis Sanctuary. The Temple of Isis conducts spiritually oriented programs at the Oasis. The Temple is a lyceum of the Fellowship of Isis, a worldwide organization devoted to the return of Goddess energy to the world. The Fellowship, founded by Lady Olivia Robertson, has thousands of members in over 80 countries worldwide. She can be reached by writing to this address: Clonegal Castle, Enniscorthy, Ireland. Lady Olivia visits Isis Oasis every October when a large Goddess convocation is held. We also are recognized as a legal "church".

Other events, connecting ancient cultures with the New Age, are sponsored by the Isis Society for Inspirational Studies. Musical concerts, films, plays and dance performances are presented at the rustic, redwood theater on the grounds.

Loreon calls Isis Oasis Sanctuary her living art project and has added many artistic touches to this unique property. It is home to an amazing 500 year old fir tree that is the centerpiece of the land. You are invited to visit this unusual mystical center.
